This was taken in October of 1975 in Rocky Mountains National Park, near Estes Park, CO. It was the morning after the first snowfall of the year, which, at this elevation, was something less than a foot of snow. During the summer, Bear Lake is awash with tourists, but on this day, I had it all to myself.
For the previous few days, I had been participating in a meeting in Boulder on planning for a new spacecraft. That spacecraft was launched long ago, and is still in orbit, but inoperable for many years. Meanwhile, the snow falls in the Rockies every year, just about like this.
