Mt. Athabaska

The highway from Banff to Jasper, in Alberta, is surely one of the most scenic drives in the world. There is an unbroken string of mountain peaks on each side of the road. The western range, the main range of the Rockies, is snow-covered throughout the year. It is almost too much magnificence. After fifty miles or so of this, the brain gets a little numb.

Mt. Athabaska, in the distance, is ringed by permanent glaciers. The runoff from one of these is in the stream below. This area is highly recommended.
