Bennett Place is the place where signed surrender papers of southern armies in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida are found. Today James Bennett's reconstructed farmhouse, kitchen, and smokehouse makes a recall of lifestyle of an ordinary Southern farmer during the Civil War. The simple reproduction farm dwelling and log show what life was like during a tragic period in nation’s history. Here a modern visitor center which exhibits an audiovisual program helps to tell the Bennett Place story with a sight seeing pictures all covering the farmhouse.
