History convolutes that 1,896 mile path from the Colorado Rockies covered with snow flanks to the Gulf of Mexico. People have been associated along this river and its major tributaries for thousands of years. The very first battle fought between Mexican-American War (Palo Alto) and the last one of the American Civil War (Palmito Hill) was fought within a few miles of each other near the river's mouth. As a matter of fact, after they gained independence from Mexico, this place evolved with a historical touch and feeling of patronize involved with snow landscape which founded the opening of the grand Rio Bridge on the river connecting the city of Taos in New Mexico and make a remarkable marking for the visitors and tourists to visit.
