San Jose Interior

This shows the restored interior of Mission San Jose y San Miguel de Aguayo. This mission was established in 1720, and the present structure was begun in 1768, finished in 1777.

It flourished in the years 1747-1775. It was formally closed in 1824. The dome collapsed in December 1868, and the bell tower in 1928.

By 1937, the dome and roof had been restored, and the bell tower as well. The church was redicated in 1937, and it continues to serve as a parish church. This picture shows the decorations installed for Christmas, 2005.
