Concepción Mission

The full name is Mission Nuestra Señora de la Concepción de Acuña. The mission was originally founded in east Texas in 1716, and moved to the present site, on the San Antonio river, in 1731. The present building was completed in 1755.

It is the least restored of the Spanish missions in Texas, thus the closest to the original appearance and the original materials. The ruins of the convento in the right foreground have not been maintained.

It should be noted, however, that originally there was a plaster coating on the outside, which was painted with bright colorful patterns. This presented an appearance very different from today.
