Fort Gorges, built on Hog Island Ledge in Casco Bay, Maine, is a military fort. The fort was completed in 1865. The scenic view of the fort is absolutely fantastic, just like an island with water on all sides. When viewed from a distance it looks like a raised island with plantations on the roof. The fort is accessible only through a proper boat in suitable conditions as one has to overcome a rip current. But this is one of the most beautiful forts.
