At 115 feet, this is the tallest lighthouse on Lake Michigan. It is located on Michigan's lower peninsula, about halfway between Ludington and Muskegon. It is in Silver Lake State Park, and stands on a fine isolated stretch of sandy beach. The nearest town is Mears, MI.

I have read that Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state, In any case there are over a hundred listed in the book Michigan Lighthouses by the Penroses. A similar number is given in John Penrod's Michigan Lighthouses.
