The higher portion of the building, which was once four stories high is in the rear. Three of the kivas are visible from this point.

The main stream of Chaco Canyon is called Chaco wash. It runs fairly near Pueblo del Arroyo, and there is some possibility that erosion from the stream could threaten the foundations of the building. The park service is studying the problem.
