Near Hoodoos in Big Bend

This was taken from an overlook on the River Road, just south of Redford, TX. It is 41.4 miles from the origin of the River Road in Study Butte. The term “hoodoo” is geologist speak for eccentric formations produced by erosion. There are several of these on the river near this point, in fact the formation in the right foreground might qualify, but there are better ones in the vicinity. The river runners call this the Hoodoo Section, and there once was a river access near here. The access has been closed, however.

The river is wandering back and forth within its flood plain. You are looking upstream, with Mexico on the left, and the US on the right.
