The Big Bend area of far west Texas, is a little-known scenic wonder. Extensive volcanic activity, from about 30 million to sixty million years ago, combined with fracturing due to the motion of the earth's crust, and extensive erosion,, have produced a variety of features which are fascinating, even to visitors who do not know about how they were produced. For those who do know the processes, the features are truly awsome.
