Additional Big Bend Websites

Big Bend National Park This is the official website of the National Park, the heart of the Big Bend area. It has extensive environmental information, as well a description of the major attractions of the park.

Big Bend State Park This is a Texas State Park, which covers a substantial area west of the national park. It is comparatively primitive in terms of facilities, but is has some interesting features not found in the National Park.

Fort Davis National Historic Site This is a restoration of a ninetheenth century calvalry post.

Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute This facility is located south of Ft. Davis on Texas 118. It has a great deal of information on desert plants and animals. Some plants are for sale, and there is a hiking trail on the premises.

Visit Big Bend This site is sponsored by the Brewster County Tourism Council. It gives a good survey of the facilities and activities available to tourists in the area.

Desert Mountain Times Gallery Guide This is a comprehensive listing of galleries in the area. Of the dozens of galleries listed, There are only two primarily involved with photography. These are listed below. Some of the rest of the galleries have photographs on occasion. Most are primarily for paintings and crafts. Many of the paintings are of Big Bend scenery.

Evans Gallery Jim Evans has lived in Marathon, TX for some years, and has photographed extensively in the area. At present, he does not sell individual prints in the gallery, or on the website, but the does sell his book of Big Bend photographs. He also shows work by painters in the gallery.

Highland Gallery This is a photography gallery, located in Marfa, TX. It shows pictures by Marty Carden, and several other photographers.
